I am a software engineer at Snowflake in Berlin, working on the performance team.
Previously, I undertook a PhD at the University of Bristol studying Artificial Intelligence, supervised by Laurence Aitchison as part of the CDT in Interactive AI and the Bristol Computational Neuroscience Unit.
My PhD research covered two areas. First, I developed new techniques for inverse reinforcement learning (IRL): initial findings in a discrete state-space showed that introducing carefulness into expert behaviour can improve learning. Later, I used supervised learning methods on weather datasets to improve short-term predictions of low-dimensional variables without the use of generative models.
Prior to my PhD, I worked in software development at Techmodal and before that, I studied for an MMath in mathematics at the University of Exeter.
When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me sailing, climbing or out for a run.
